Change capability development provides a structured approach to supporting your MDA as its internal change capability is built. It also helps to:
Overcome barriers and maintain momentum as MDAs continue to change
Support MDAs to build their own capability to drive change
Change capabilities can be built across six core areas:
Purpose and strategy alignment
Leadership activation
Operating model governance
Methodology and infrastructure
Development initiatives
Culture.
Prior to the launch of a Change Capability Programme, revisit how to conduct a change maturity assessment and how to develop a change capability roadmap as discussed in step 3. Both outputs should be used to shape the implementation of the Change capability development programme
5.1.1. Change capability development – the process
1. Implement Change capability development interventions
Develop materials, processes, and assets to support change capability development efforts, as appropriate
Initiate change capability development interventions, may include:
Establishing the structure and governance for the function changing and supporting career paths, performance, KPIs etc.
Developing learning initiatives to support capability development for identified individuals.
2. Monitor progress
Develop and agree on how the change capability development will be monitored to measure the critical areas that matter
Track progress against the initial roadmap and plan developed earlier and engage key stakeholders on mitigating actions
Conduct lessons learned exercise on delivery of each intervention and incorporate learnings into future interventions.
Implement the change capability roadmap developed from a previous step.
